Dr. Gladys De Necochea received her doctorate in Counseling Psychology (APA approved) from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with specializations in career development, cross-cultural counseling and corporate psychology.
Dr. De Necochea has considerable experience providing career development consultation to the workforces employed by major US corporations and extensive academic administrative experience providing leadership to divisions of Student Affairs/Student Services and Academic Affairs in institutions of higher education.
In 1988 Dr. De Necochea began her career in higher education as a counseling psychologist at UC Irvine and worked in various universities including UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly Pomona and CSU East Bay before joining New Mexico State University. In 2003, she joined the faculty at New Mexico State University where she taught undergraduate and graduate courses in counseling, including CEP 451V – Counseling Theories, CEP 503 – Counseling Theories, CEP 552 – Career/Life Planning & Vocational Assessment and CEP 652 – Career/Life Planning & Vocational Assessment.
Throughout her career, she has maintained a clear focus on counseling service delivery and the pursuit of research-based interests that center on outreach, access, persistence/retention, and leadership development of diverse populations of students, staff and faculty in higher education.
