Undergraduate program in Counseling and Community Psychology

Pursing a Bachelor of Science in Counseling and Community Psychology is critical to meeting the high demand of graduates needed to support mental health in the state and the nation. Preparation in these careers have been described as having a faster-than-average job growth. The Bachelor of Science in Counseling and Community Psychology at NMSU offers an undergraduate program that prepares students to work at the bachelor’s level with a focus on interpersonal skills, case management, awareness of mental health issues, understanding human behavior, and multicultural awareness. Alternatively the CEP undergraduate major prepares students for graduate school in order to become practitioners in the field of psychology with an additional focus on research and professional psychology practice opportunities.
In addition, the Bachelor of Science in Counseling and Community Psychology at NMSU is designed to allow students the opportunity to double major and begin coursework toward licensure as a Substance Abuse Associate. The program’s focus on human relations and diversity will allow students to apply these unique skills to other fields.
